As the crisis rocking the Nigeria movie industry seem to have no end, the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima, has reacted to the public comment of the Nollywood Comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, over her wish to contest for the second term as the President of the Guild as act of ignorance.
According to a statement credited to Mr. Ibu, claimed that Ibinabo, is unfit to lead the Guild and should drop her ambition of running for a second term, as he said about 90 per cent of the members of the association do not want her as their leader, with many court cases being instituted against her.
“Going for a second term is making the anger in people expand. It is better for her not to come again. She should leave the office and allow another person to try. No progress at all. As I speak with you, Ibinabo has about two to three court cases. We are tired. We want another person. We should try a new person. Let’s see what he or she would do. About 90 per cent of the people she is ruling say no, but she insisted. Why? Because she is gaining something.”
Ibinabo Fiberesima, insisted that Mr. Ibu is among the few in the industry who has failed to the good things that is happening in Nollywood.
She however argued that John Okafor’s excuses is baseless.
